We just heard that the schedules for the ferry between St. John and St. Thomas have changed. Many of the trips have been cancelled. Is anyone able to share the correct scheduling for both Charlotte Amalie and also Red Hook? Thanks.

From todays paper

Just thought you all might want to know and please read that they have cut ferry runs to and from CA and Red Hook.

"Starting July 6, commuters are going to be seeing fewer ferry runs from St. Thomas to St. John and less money in their pockets after paying their fares, thanks to a ruling by the Public Services Commission during an emergency meeting Thursday on St. Thomas. An extra $1.10 fuel surcharge will be tacked onto all passenger tickets, including regular $5 tickets, $3 commuter tickets, $2.50 bulk tickets, $1.50 student tickets, $1.25 senior tickets, and the $1 fare for children under age 12."

"Until the beginning of November, both Transportation Services and Varlack Ventures will only be making runs during the week from Cruz Bay to Charlotte Amalie at 7:15 a.m. and 3:45 p.m., and from Charlotte Amalie to Cruz Bay at 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. During the weekend, the Cruz Bay to Charlotte Amalie ferry will run at 11:15 a.m., with a return trip running at 1 p.m. The 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. runs from Cruz Bay to Red Hook have also been eliminated, along with the 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. runs from Red Hook to Cruz Bay."

I am confused about the ferry schedule. Are you saying there will only be a couple times per day that ferry will run? I will be flying in on Wednesday, July 2 around 3:30 and was planning to take ferry from Red Hook to Cruz Bay. Is the ferry still running?

Red Hook to Cruz Bay runs on the hour from 8 AM to midnight EXCEPT they cancelled the 8 PM run. You should be able to catch the 6 pm or 7 pm if your flight is on time and you are collecting baggage @baggage claim.

Hmmmm, local friends of mine went to STJ to do a wedding and couldn't take the 7pm ferry back and had to wait for the 8pm! One of the girls stayed for dinner and couldn't get her 9pm ferry back to STT and caught the 10pm. I am scheduled to do a wedding over there tomorrow and had to change our wedding time so I could catch the 6pm ferry back! We were told the 7pm and 9pm ferry from STJ to STT were cancelled!
