Cheers!
You have several options if you are staying at the Westin ( I think I read that in another post of yours) and if it is your first time on island I would recommend that you take the Westin Ferry., especially if you are traveling with kids.
if you choose to take the public Ferry you will have 2 options. One is a quick taxi ride but a longer boat ride and then a taxi to the Westion. The other is a longer taxi ride, quick boat ride, and then a taxi to the Westin. While the Westin price may see a bit high, it brings you direct to the property and, I am almost certain, will take your bags to the room for you while you are checking in.
Just a friendly reminder, there is no "s" on St. John.
The Westin Ferry is definitely more convenient and they do take your bags to your room for you, but the price is pretty steep. In recent years it was as much as $75/per person round trip. You do get to use the Westin ferry back & forth to St. Thomas as much as you'd like during your stay if that's of interest. The past 2 years we opted to take a taxi to Red Hook and catch the cheap ferry from there and handle our own bags.
