My question is...our cruise ship will be docking in Charlotte Amalie and I understand there is a ferry our of Charlotte Amalie to St. John Does anyone know how far the ferry is from the cruise ship dock. Is it walkable or will I need to take a taxi. In the past I have taken the ferry out of Red Hook, but would like to take the ferry out of Charlotte Amalie this time.
Thanks for your help.

It is a fair walk. About 2 miles or so. The first one leaves at 9AM and the last one back gets in by 4:30PM.

Hello Michele,

Most ships dock in Havensight. The walk from Havensight to Charlotte Amalie is about 30 minutes. A taxi will take like 6 minutes (depends on traffic though).

If your ship anchors in the harbor, which happens during high season or with very large ships; then you are tendered right in to Charlotte Amalie.

If you are docked in Crown Bay, take a taxi.

Hmm...Ronnie, put the odometer on it next time you drive down that way. I believe it is 1 mile from the Coast Guard dock to Wendy's... It only seems like two! 😉

The words 'or so' covers a mile either way! I know it's a mile and a half from Tortola wharf to Lucinda Millin and about a half from there to Wendy's, so it was a ballpark.

Ronnie, I've got to agree with East Ender on this one. And quite frankly "or so" really refers when you're talking over 25 mile not 1 or 2.

East End, better check the route you're talking about. I'll bet you that Ronnie and that Maroon Ford will be out there just as the sun rises measuring that course, just to make sure that bet is worthwhile.

Just saying Ronnie, that's all!!!

The USVI is a place that agrees with me. I like the kind of place where the weather's always warm, the sun shines most of the time and residents sit around having discussions about things like how far it is from one place to another.

It's one mile and a half from the cruise dock to the ferry dock. Clocked it today!
