Hi All,
We plan to take ferry to Tortola from CA/STT on July 19, 2010. We can either go to West End or Road Town. We are looking for the fastest or shortest ferry trip due to my wife problem with seasickness. Does anyone have any recommendation? Thanks.

road town is faster and more direct. take the "fast ferry"... see the ferry schedules link at the top of this page for more info and help in scheduling...

Thanks Anita, Fast Ferry it is then. One more question: Is the Fast Ferry terminal close by Dependable Car Rentals? because I need to drop off a rental car coming back from St. Johns (......errr.... I mean St. John) :))

Well played anh7tam.

Ask Dependable and they might drop you off or meet you at the dock. They seem to be very user friendly.

Was wondering if anyone can give me some advice regarding a day trip to Tortola from St. Thomas. It appears that most of the ferrys leave Tortola by 2:30 on weekdays. Do you think that if we took the first ferry out of St. Thomas to Tortola (around 8:30am) and rented a car in Tortola to check out some of the beaches and just checking out the island, would that be enough time if we had to catch a 2:30 ferry? Remember we would have to return a rental car also. Would we want to take a ferry to Road Town or West End? Wanted to check out Smuggler's Cove beach for sure. Any other suggestions? Thanks much!

Rent the car at West End right outside the ferry dock -- Smugglers is one ot the most westerly of the North Shore beaches. It is a pretty short day though for sure - any way you could do an overnite would give you a lot more latitude.

the ferry trip from Charlotte Amalie to Roadtown is MORE than twice the time at sea; look at the chart/map! Red Hook (east end, STT) to West End Tortola is the shortest/fastest route by far; although you will have to take a taxi to town, again, look at the map . . .

Thanks, did check the ferry schedule on vinow.com and it shows 50 minutes from Charlotte Amalie to Road Town and 35 minutes from Red Hook to Road Town.......did not show the time from Red Hook to the West End.
