You'll find that STJ is about 180 degrees different from Florida...which is a good thing! It's not a big 'family destination" like Florida, but the Westin will have other children staying there, as well. They even have a "Kids Club". And, at that age, the beach and the pool are all that is really required for them to have a great vacation, right? Well, the Westin has the largest pool on STJ and the beach is very calm...and you've got about 20 others to choose from around the isand! Teaching them snorkeling is easy and they will really enjoy it. Hike the Reef Bay Trail. Go over to STT and take a tour of the island, visit Coral World, ride Paradise Point Skyride and do the Atlantis Submarine. Take a day sail. Rent a dinghy for the day and explore. Take a picnic lunch out to Leinster Bay and have a nice day at that beach and snorkel around Waterlemon Cay (be sure to bring underwater cameras!). Take a BVI trip (Like Limnos) out to the Baths. That should be enough for about a week's worth of vacation. How long will you be down?

The Westin also has a play structure. Our daughter is now 4.5 and we've been taking her there since she was 6 months. I would disagree, however, with Marty: there's no way I would take a five year old on the Reef Bay Trail. It's long, especially if you take the Park Service tour, and if you don't, I don't think a 5 year old could easily make it back up. Our daughter is extremely active but she still has problems getting back up the trail from Salt Pond, which is only .2 miles.

There's also put-put/mini-golf at Pastory Gardens, but if you're staying at the Westin, you might find your child has so much fun there that she doesn't want to leave. There always seems to be other families there when we go (late April) so I'm sure she'll find kids to play with. I also think the kid's club is wonderful.
