Me again, hello to all! Wondering what if any, you as readers can suggest to us as a family to do for sightseeing in St. John. We will only be at the islnad for a day and would like to see all/most of the "hot spots". Our likes are history, nature, and culture. Thanks!
When you get off the ferry go to the left where you will find all of the taxis and have them take you on a tour of the entire island.
Check out the national park here - http://www.nps.gov/viis . For history there's the Annaberg Ruins and if you plan to do any swimming, Trunk Bay is famous for its snorkeling trail but can get crowded when the cruise ship folks are there. Cinnamon Bay is a great place, too.

I would suggest the snorkel trail at Trunk Bay, shopping in Cruz Bay (there's a St. John Kids store owned by famous Ruth!) right off the ferry dock area, some of the ruins (as suggested). Not sure the ages of the kids or how long of a day you have, or I would suggest some more. The above is a fairly full day.
The kids ages are 5, 11, 12 and 13. Are the prices negotionable for the taxis and is there room for bartering with venders?
There's a really nice miniature golf course close to Cruz bay - called Pastory Gardens. At the location, they also have a nice restaurant and bar.
