Help! We are finally ready to make reservations for September and we have narrowed our search to either the Westin which comes highly recommended by friends or Estate Lindholm which seems like a real taste of St. John. Any thoughts? I am also worried about the possibilty if we have to cancel or reschedule which might be more flexible. I did not know how close Estate Lindholm was to a beach which I love to walk in the morning. We like to stay busy and probably will go to Tortola one day and to St. Thomas to shop..... Thanks for any input!

Shauna,
Have you made reservations yet at either place? We checked Travelocity, Orbitz and Hotels.com for Westin rates and got a one room (studio) villa at a lot better rate than at the Westin reservations site. We got the better rate from Westin by telling them about the other site rate. Actually getting the villa for the price of a garden view room.
Let me know if you want more info.
If you wind up at the Westin, maybe we'll see you there.

Hi Fred,
No we have not, guess we are major procrastinators. Plus I just had to have surgery and wait for those results. Which web site did you use and can I ask what rate you ended up with?
Thanks,
Shauna

I can't remember which one had the low rate. Checked Travelocity, Orbitz and Hotels.com. Priceline.com wasn't good because it wouldn't tell me which resort it chose. Priceline has a "sister" site, I think it is Lowestfare.com, that also gives rates.

The internet rate for the villa was $165.00/night plus tax and $18.00 "resort fee".

I called the reservations number from the Westin St. John website (1-800-627-7206, not the Westin national number) and got a rate and availability quote - $159.00 for garden view room, $209.00 for studio villa - both plus tax and $18.00 resort fee. I asked the agent about the internet rate and she told me her internet rate for the villa would be $159.00 plus tax and fee.

She also said that the internet booking (Travelocity or whoever) does not offer a cancellation policy and the Westin does (I believe it is cancellation two weeks prior to arrival date without penalty). The internet company immediately bills your credit card the full amount. The Westin bills the room rate only (no tax or resort fee billed until your arrival/check-out).

I will see if I can find the website I checked. If so, I'll send it in another post.

Fred

PS - Hope everything is okay with the surgery outcome.

Shauna,

I just tried the sites and could not get them to bring up the Westin.

Heck, just call them, check availability and tell them you know the internet rate is $159.00 for a villa and you want it!

Good Luck.

Hey Shauna,

Did you guys ever decide where to stay? Just curious if you had any luck with the Westin rates or decided on Estate Lindholm.

We're getting close to a month to go on the countdown. Time seems to have slowed to a crawl!
