We are going to be staying one night on St. Thomas at the tail-end of a vacation on St. John. We are considering Emerald Beach Resort and Carib Beach Resort - both are close to the airport, waterfront, and not terribly expensive. Does anyone have an opinion as to which is the nicest and why? Thanks for your help!

We stayed a week at the Emerald in August and really enjoyed it. The pool is beautiful and the beach is so close. The rooms are large with a nice private balcony. I didn't see Carib. Beach up close, but it didn't seem to have much of a beach at all. The hotel itself looked OK. The food at the Emerald is good, though a bit overpriced. There is a free continental breakfast that was very good with a large selection of foods. everything was really clean. Have a great time!

Hi There,

You picked the right place. The word about Carib right now is that it has closed until December. A decision will be made then about re-opening.

Hello Schultz. You very kindly helped me with all kinds of information on where to stay for a night or two on STT after a week on STJ. You had also sent me some great pics of the Crystal Palace. I told you that I would let you know what we finally decided to do and after procrastinating for a couple of months (I blame it on the holidays) we finally made a move. I ended up going on Priceline and getting a room at the Renaissance Grand Beach Resort for 75.00 a night. (our trip is mid February) I think it's a really great deal and hubby will be happy that we are staying in a resort vs a B&B. Now,Schultz, any suggestions for a great special dinner out? I don't care about "linen and candles", but I sure do appreciate a view. Thanks again for everything.
