Has anyone heard about the problems at the Wyndham? Also is this a common thing there?

Wyndham Sugar Bay is "off the grid" and generates its own power via generator. Their main generator went down and although they had some backups they were insufficient to power the whole hotel. However, they quickly got a new generator and all is now back to normal. It was a rare (if not the first) such occurrence.

Our local electrical producer (WAPA) has numerous problems and the power does go off for short periods from time to time. However, most of the hotels, condo complexes, several restaurants and many private residences have their own generators. It's really nothing you have to worry about.

We stayed next door at Point Pleasant a few weeks ago, and while we were there, the Wyndam had no power for a while.

Tell them not to worry about make-up/hairdryers, etc. They problem won't use them! 😉 I wore make-up and fixed my hair one time while on STT, and that was when we went to dinner at Agave. 😉

I'm a real girly-girl. Makeup, curling irons, cute clothes, the whole nine yards. The only time I will have makeup and hair done is when we fly in and that will be the last time until we fly out. With all the heat, humidity, swimming, snorkeling, sweating and wind, there really is no point to it. I usually hold to this concept when on island time on any island. Since we will have our kids and don't plan on hitting the really fancy restaurants anyway, I'm afraid you guys will just have to put up with the Au Naturel look LOL! I will however be sporting a boatload of bikini's;)

I was there during the outage. Dare I say... it wasn't that bad... although it was hot to sleep through the night without even a ceiling fan to circulate air. As I mentioned in my trip report, it was the only thing I could complain about my stay at the Wyndham...basically you pay for a room, you expect electricity, right? But as mentioned above, from everyone I asked, this is NOT a common occurence. I would be that they have taken care of things so that it DOESN'T happen again! 🙂
