*Hi! I am trying to plan a surprise for my boyfriend for his birthday. We are arriving on Friday for a week. I have read about the Ecotours with Mangrove Adventures and am curious about those as well as the tours to the British Virgin Islands (half a day in the Baths and half a day snorkeling). Can you offer any advice for a special day? Also- as a further option I thought about renting a boat on our own and exploring. I don't know how hard this would be to find unique spots- etc though. Thank you! Can't wait to visit.

Which island will you be on? Tortola?

Of the BVI day trips, I would recommend one to Jost Van Dyke rather than the Baths. The Baths are great, no question, but it takes about 1.5 hrs to get to Virgin Gorda. With a trip that long you really want to stay for longer (maybe overnight). Jost is closer and very laid back so definitely consider it.
