My wife and I are staying at the Wyndham sugar beach hotel on St Thomas. We are not opting for the All Inclusive option because we enjoy getting out and going to different restaurants and bars when we travel. We really enjoy the local hangouts rather than the tourist hot spots. Can someone help with info regarding dining and bar options on the eastern end of the island. We are planning a day trip to St John and possibly to Jost van Dyke or Tortola. Any info on these would be appreciated as well.
Thanks
Al

There is a funny thing about St Thomas, for a tourist destination we don't have many "tourist" restaurants. The exceptions would be some restaurants in hotels, i.e. good idea NOT doing all-inclusive!! 😉 My own personal favorite east side restaurants, in order of closeness to Sugar Bay... Azure at Sapphire Village (on the hill, not on the beach)- especially for Thai Thursday, but really any time! ...in Red Hook (great place to park and wander around)- Frigate East (steak house with salad bar), Sopchoppy's (pizza and more overlooking the marina), Molly Molone's (Irish pub in the Caribbean), XO (wine bar/cigar bar and restaurant), Duffy's (party!!), and for breakfast and lunch- Grateful Deli and Burrito Bay Delis, out on the eastern peninsula- Blue Moon (romantic dinners by the sea), Arthur's (great ribs and more) and Bonnie's (also by the sea).

Take the ferry to St John and have fun. To Jost, you can take the ferry on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I still like Pirate's Penny and Stormy Petrel for their Tour de BVI in a day (stops at the Baths and Cooper Island for lunch). Have fun!

East Ender definately covered the East End restaurants. 🙂 just wanted to say I agree that not many touristy restaurants... residents definately visit all of them and the owners cater to both residents and visitors with the same standard of service.

As for your day tripping - do you want to do the day trips by ferry on your own OR with a charter???
