Hi everyone - I'm looking to book tix in mid Feb and was wondering about the return flight. It leaves STT @ 8:30am... would we have enough time to make it if we caught the 6am ferry from Cruz Bay to Red Hook? Has anyone taken this flight before? I think its United stopping in MIA. I really want to avoid spending the night on STT. Figured if we got to the airport by 7:15am we'd be fine since we wouldn't be checking any bags. Thank you!

I would think there is no way you can get to the airport in time for an 8:30AM departure from STT from STJ. I would recommend the Best Western by the airport - good price on rooms, super convenient to the airport and a great beach! Really is your the best option IMHO.

I was planning to do the same thing. My flight leaves at 8:10, but it's in October. I know weekends are very busy, but on a Friday morning in October, there shouldn't be much of a backup, should there?

I would not try this, unless you'd like to stay one more day!!

I was there a couple of weeks ago and had the 8:30 flight. Should be no problem as long as you do not miss the first ferry. Did not hurt to tell the taxi we had the early flight from STT.

You will make it as long as you have proper id and no contraband. 🙂

The 6am does leave on time and you will be in Red Hook just before 6:30. Since it is so early in the morning you will be able to get across STT fairly quickly and should be at the Airport by 7:30 at the very latest assuming a maximum of a one hour trip across the island.

I take that flight all the time (fingers crossed and not tempting fate) I have been fine. I arrive at the airport usually by 6:50am (arrive in RH at 6:20am) - alot of people at the airport - but never have missed it.

I am just getting ready for my trip in a few weeks and decided to log back on to the forum. I'm so glad that I read this thread. Several in my group are taking the early flight back to Miami the morning that we leave. It does sound like it might be a challenge to get to the airport on time, so perhaps we should look into staying on St. Thomas the night before...

Thanks, guys, you make everything so much easier!
