Geez- I've been reading post's on other site and they all say steep hilly hairpin turns.

If we spend an evening in Cruz Bay and our cottage is on the other side of the island - is there a problem with getting there in the dark?

I know it sounds silly but, you know, fear of the unknown and all that.

How long does the drive from St. Cruz to Coral Bay or Johns Folly take anyway - and estimates?

You are really talking about Cruz Bay. The drive at night should be a min. of 20minutes.
Some parts of the road are lighted others are not. I drive it all the time and haven't had a problem. Just remember to keep on the left side of the road and don't try to speed. There usually is not too much traffic at night. Make sure that your lights are working properly. My lights were very dim until I had them replaced and then it was just fine. As a female travelling this road alone I was not in the least bit concerned.

Yea - sorry - St. Cruz - WOW - that is different then what I was told but those people were there10 years ago and perhaps the roads were worse then . . . . or they were rummed up LOL.

Please, not to worry, come visit and enjoy this fantastic place! We have modern roads, although steep and twisty hairpin turns. It's not like driving in the mountains where you might plunge off a cliff if you missed a turn or something.

People hear he most awful things. You'll be just fine.
