Hi,
I've rented a car on St. Thomas and would like to take my family on a sight seeing tour of the island...things like Bluebeard's/Blackbeard's Castle, the beaches, Paradise Point, etc.

Your suggestions are very welcome! I'm picking up the car at the Cruise Dock.

Thanks for your help!

Michael

Hello Mike,

After picking up the car drive up to Paradise Point, the road is in the same area as the rental car offices (which are directly accross the street from Havensight where the ships dock). From there head back down the hill and head to Bluebeards Castle. You can park in the lot there and walk around - take some pictures from the pool area - nice spot. From there head for Mafolie Hill and then for the look out on Skyline Drive (Valdemar Hill Drive) and then Drakes Seat. Retrace your route a bit from Drakes Seat and go down to Magens Bay - grab some milk shakes for the family from the dairy stand at the corner on the road to Magens Bay. (Magens Bay has an entrance fee - if you aren't interested in going to the beach and just want another view point, turn to the right shortly after the dairy stand toward Peterborg - nice views and photo spots along the left side of the road... turn around and head back toward Drake Seat and then head up to Mountain Top (if you guys are hungry and didn't stop at Magens Bay - where you can buy food) you might go to Hull Bay before Mountain Top. Hull Bay has a neat local restaurant, good burgers and you can eat on the beach - a beach picnic :-). Ok now head up to Mountain Top for another view of Magens Bay. Depending on the time you might now head from Mountain Top through the northside to the west end of the island and come back past the university and through town to Havensight. If you still have time once at Havensight you could head past Havensight to Frenchman's Reef & Morningstar Resort and stop at Morningstar Beach. So much to see... I totally left out the East End of the island, you could skip Mountain Top and head east after lunch or for lunch & see some of the beaches out that way.

What beaches are you intersted in - any in particular? Are you wanting to stop at the beach to swim, snorkel... for how many hours?

Hi Islander!
I think we'd like to spend about 2 hours or so on a beach...one where my kids will be totally stunned by its beauty! LOL They have snorkelling stuff with them but are 9/8 yr old boys so I'm sure they'll be happy with anything.

Is there a blackbeard's castle also or is one castle enough?!

I basically have from 9-4 for this quickie tour! Love St. Thomas and want to share it, although quickly, with the family!

Hello Mike,

Magens Bay doesn't have snorkeling... its a sandy bottom bay. You might head to the east end and visit Secret Harbor - have lunch there and you can snorkel and enjoy the beach for a bit.

Yes there is a Blackbeards and a Bluebeards. Neither are castles... but rather towers. Blackbeards has a fee to visit, includes a tour and pool time at their swimming pool... nice spot.

So you can decide which of the attractions exactly you want to see. Spend the am driving to those close to or in town and then head to East End to drive around there and go to a beach for a couple hours for snorkeling and lunch and then in the afternoon head to the northside to see a different area and views.
