*How long does it take to drive from where the ships dock (in Charlotte Amalie) to the Red Hook for the ferry to St. john? What is the fastest way to get to St. John- Charlotte Amalie ferry or take a taxi to Red Hook and take the ferry from there? Thanks

Hello Shari,

The ships can dock in three areas on St. Thomas (Havensight, anchored in the harbor, Crown Bay). The most popular dock is the one in Havensight so... from Havensight to Red Hook is about 17-20 minutes in low-medium traffic.

The time when taxi + ferry is considered isn't hugely different:
Havensight to Red Hook Ferry (20 minute taxi + 20 minute ferry)
Havensight to Charlotte Amalie Ferry (6 minute taxi + 45 minute ferry)

and costwise about the same too:
Havensight to Red Hook Ferry ($10 pp/ow taxi + $5pp/ow ferry)
Havensight to Charlotte Amalie Ferry ($4 pp/ow taxi + $11.50pp/ow ferry)

If your ship happens to be anchored in the harbor then you are tendered into Charlotte Amalie (downtown) and can walk to where the Charlotte Amalie-St. John ferry departs from. Taxi to Red Hook still necessary.

If you are docked in Crown Bay, the taxi fare from Crown Bay to Red Hook is $11pp/ow and takes about 30 minutes. About 8 minutes from Crown Bay to Charlotte Amalie and $4pp/ow for the taxi.
