Haven't read any posts about Dottie's lately. Is she still there? The Front Porch is on my family's "must do" list.
Hi, until recently I have lived next door to Dottie and worked part time in the restaurant. Dottie is still there - although business is slow. She has recently lost an eye so we called it Dottie's Pirate Porch for a while but the old broad is still kicking and cooking. She is also publishing her cookbook this year (we hope)... if you would like to get ont he mailing list send me your mailing information and I will get it to her.

Oh my!! She lost an eye? Well, I do hope that we can help boost her business. My kids just love going there....they love it when she come and sits at our table while taking our order ....my mom says that Dottie is such an inspiration. We are amazed each time we visit the Front Porch.
Steff... you into rhymes? "Oh my! She lost an eye?" LOL!
Still haven't been there yet but have heard about it. Where is it? Would love to check it out on the next trip.
Good home cookin' kind of place. Very small, like 5 tables. Closed Thursdays.
It's in the Compass Point Marina on the east end.

Steff,
I saw her last night and told her about this posted message. She was tickled. Everything on the menu is $12.50 this year. I love her mexican lasagna! Desserts are $6 and $7 this year. And, of course, Oh By Joyful is still the house drink! She'll love to see you.
Pamela.
For those who don't know about Dottie's...
It is an open air restaurant at Compass Point Marina. There isn't any view because the whole "front porch" (it is really the size of a front porch) is surrounded by tropical plants, which are lit with white Christmas lights (pretty) and trellaces. The owner, Dottie, is also the waitress, chef, hostess, bartender and dishwasher. I'm not sure is she brings in help during the winter months, but when I go, which is usually in June, she's always been alone. She has several wonderful dishes on the small, verbal only menu and is famous for her desserts. I always get her Thai dish. My son likes the Mexican lasanga and my 6 yr old likes the stroganoff. Desserts : "To Die For" IS to die for! It's a chocolate lover's dream.
It's good ole' homecooking in a really relaxed atmosphere!
Hi - Dottie's sounds like a neat place to go to - because it's so small, are reservations required?
Thanks!
BJ
BJ-
I have never made a reservation. But, it seems like the crowd tends to come out late and we usually get there before 7.
