The guy is usually down by Vendor's Plaza, Charlotte Amalie - St. Thomas. The donkey's name is Oprah. Usually he has Oprah's mouth and feet painted red and some big sunglasses on it. Its a business, you pay for a photo with the donkey.

In the past when vendors were allowed at Drakes Seat there would be 2 or 3 donkeys. They weren't made up though; usually just a bouquet of local flowers on their heads. The made up donkey IMO looks a bit like a clown :-(.

Also, just some fair warning... Donkey Man tends to get upset if you take a picture (of him, of the donkey, of yourself with them in the background, etc) without paying him, so if you're going to do that best be sly 😉

Picture says it all!

Nice guy but do not snap a shot unless you are willing to get him a couple bucks.

One Love is no longer on St. Thomas. He has left Oprah the donkey behind last year and went to St. Kitts. I understand he is now entertaining tourists with a parrot by the name of Oprah there. The only other donkey I have seen available to the tourist on STT, is at the Skyline Drive Overlook.

Wow that is a flash
Last time we saw him was in Feb 08
I guess he had worked that corner long enough...

He was always a landmark
Kinda like the dude that plays guitar in his underware in NYC
You have been to NYC until Cowboy sings you a song
CA just will not be the same with out One Love

dejavu - if you don't find the 2nd donkey man at the Skyline Overlook of Charlotte Amalie as CynthiaD and Billd mentioned... you can always try to find some donkeys over on St. John. There are usually small groups of them around Coral Bay.

What you'll find is his replacement - Shaka Zulu the African warrior. He'll be in Vendors' Plaza posing for photos and "donations."
