Has anyone ever used Dolphin Water Taxi to get around the islands? We are looking to use them to get from STT to JVD in February and are just wondering what others have experienced and are there any comments regarding them. Thanks in advance.

jill,
i believe this is a fairly new business. i do not have any feed back about them except that he is offering a service to shuttle people back and forth between jost and stt and stj. it is a much needed service since the ferrys hours and days are limited.

Thanks for that info, mcgee2u. I was curious about Jill's question as there is no listing for them in the 2007 'phone book and I'd never heard of them. Sorry not to be able to be of help, Jill, but maybe someone will come up with something. Are you looking to go to Jost just for one day? If you give a little more information about your proposed plans, others might be able to offer alternative suggestions. Cheers!

thanks to the responses. STT Resident, we are traveling to STT on a Friday and unfortunately miss the last Red Hook ferry to Jost, so we are seeking alternative ways to get there as we have a villa on Jost for a week and then we head to STJ for 2 weeks after that. The JVD ferry only runs Fri-Sat-Sun and we want to get to Jost Friday night but unfortunately with our flight arrival (even if it is on time) we'd never make it to Red Hook for the last ferry to JVD. I can't remember where I got Dolphins info, I've been in touch with them via email but was just wondering what others may know. They seem like the perfect option as they are willing to arrange a private taxi out of the airport direct to the water taxi in Red Hook and then a direct ride to JVD to hit the customs house before it closes. I guess it's just my conscious looking out for our best interest in making sure we are choosing the right outfit to get us to our destination. Thanks for the help! Jill

Private Water Taxi service between St Thomas and Jost Van Dyke is starting in Nov 2007 by Dolphin Water Shuttle. This is a daily departure at 10am from Red Hook, arriving back at 5pm. $89pp round trip.
Reservations required because space is limited. 340-774-BOAT

he might be brand new but i wouldn't count them out. if he plays his cards right he will be a great alternitive to get to jost. i would recommend you keep your plans and give it a shot. i have not heard nothing bad about the buisness owner while i can't recall his name at the moment. i believe he is taking a some concierge people out this week some time as a pr thing. i will have more info soon. While Dohms water taxi is excellent this would be more economical option.
