As I understand it, dolphins are only occasionally seen here.

There is a dolphin encounter in Tortola but it has drawn a lot of public heat and is not very poppular because of the publicity - if it is still running. The USVI has no such thing but we do have plentiful dolphins. I saw three in Vessup Bay just a month or so ago and there are a few who hang around Cruz Bay as well. If you are planning a day sail, mention toyour Captain you would like to see them and he/she can go to the latest sighintg spot. The whale watches are way cool as well if you are here during that season.
Pamela.

Hello Pam,

No dolphin encounters in the USVI... the one in the British Virgin Islands is
called Dolphin Discovery.

Hello Sharon,

I don't know which exact months are best... I am sure Pamela will answer but generally it is the winter months.

Hi, Sharon,
I am trying to find the exact dates and boats doing the whale watch this year. I will post under a new topic when I locate them.
Pamela.

the dolphin discovery is at prospect reef; i can recall seeing dolphins leaping about on their own during a recent private boat journey to the bvi, too!

there are a number of animal rights groups who have protested the confinement of these intelligent animals.

pamela, try calling them for the latest information. you may have to leave a message:

(340) 774-1837 - unfortunately, the number on that web site is not in service!!!

this group hosts a number of events throughout the year, but the whale watching only occurs during a specific season.

Whale season here is in the winter- December, January and February. They are not as prolific as in Hawaii, chances of seeing them are not great. ;-(

Thanks Pamela,

I've seen whales near Alaska but would love to see them in the USVI.
