Good evening. I hope all is well. I have heard there is a dolphin swim location on Tortola. Am I misinformed? I have also heard(in a side comment) that that the lagoon is polluted. Is this just internet flac or is there some truth to this. Is the dolphin swim in a fenced off lagool, or is it open water? Does anyone have any information regarding this? Thank you in advance for your help.

Here's the Humane Society's perspective on the issue of marine mammals in captivity:

This topic is extremely touchy on this site trust me i know. You are considered evil if you even dare or think about swimming with the dolphins in captivity.

Having said that just pay attention to all those reviews on the sites listed above, they are all outdated. This is 2005 people.....

Boy am i going to get flamed on this one...

Besides i only told the TRUTH....

It is 2005.

The info about the Tortola dolphin operation may be outdated. Do you have any more up-to-date info?

The Human Society info could be outdated. Do you have any info that they've changed their position on marine mammals in captivity?

I'd be interested in knowing.

But i did wanted to point that out that the dates are outdated.

Last update taken from www.dolphinproject.org

"February 14th, 2003 Dolphin Discovery exported four dolphins from Mexico to Tortola"

That is what is listed as las report from the site above. A lot can change in two years.

Oh, by the way, did you take the time to read the Humane Society's position? If they had changed their position on marine mammals in captivity, it's likely they would have updated their website.

Good Evening. As always I hope all is well. Sorry guys, I didn't want to bring up a subject of controversy. I only wanted to know the conditions. I'm not a big fan of dolphins in captivity to begin with. That's why I wanted to know if it was an open water swim or in a polluted lagoon. Things can change of course. But, in most cases change can be very slow. That is just the way of things. Thank you all for your responses. I will post again soon. Thank you all again for you time.......Quig

Are "marine mammals" in captivity worse than "non-marine mammals" in captivity? Primates share a lot more with humans than do dolphins do. Are all zoos bad? Hardly. Many can only appreciate animals in the form of a zoo.

Good deal for the humans, bad deal for the animals.
