I don't know the exact hours, but they are open all day and possibly until 9PM. I recall shopping at Starfish around 7:30 or 8PM.

Does anyone what kind of market starfish is . we are staying in st john in a few weeks. do they have items and prices like a reg supermarket . Are their prices high. Fresh foods, ie produce, refrig cheeses, yogurt etc. Thanks just trying to save a little money by not eating out 3 times a day.

It is more like a small family gourmet type store.
Prices are higher than what you are use to, but remember everything comes to STT and catches the same ferry you do.
They have some premade items that all you have to do is fire up the grill or oven
Seafood and all types of meat is available
Dariy, Deli, fruits, and vegatables etc... are all available - some brands you may not recognize
Here again it is not the Grocery Store you are use to.

Across the breezeway is a new wine, cheese, goody store - between the two you can find what you need.

Yes it will cost more, but not enough for me ever to carry a cooler in todays travel environment.

There is also Dolphin Market downtown Cruz Bay - Deli are gourmet type items not as available, but they had some damn good Blue Cheese

you are wise to enjoy your villa and eat in - you are paying big bucks for it - enjoy it!

nidenud,
Starfish has just about anything you would want. Maybe not the variety that you might find mainland. Prices of course are higher than at home. Not extremely higher though. I am guessing an average of +10% over prices at home.
You will definitely save over the cost of eating every meal out. You might bring spices or stop by St. John Spice shop at the ferry exit. PM me for a link on a discussion that lists actual costs on island.

I agree with TomB except for the "gourmet" description. Starfish Mkt has two stores in the same plaza. The market is just that. Across the way is the gourmet market for cheeses, wines, spirits and other higher end products. You will find your basic needs at the market.

"gourmet"
Caribbean style 😉
Defintely a step above Pueblo in STT or Dolphin Mkt...
so if you are better than norm... you are UPTOWN
hence my gourmet rating

Please do take me seriously...:-)
