We will be spending 8 days in St. Thomas at Point Pleasant beginning Nov. 26th. We have been watching this board and learned many things. I'm sure we will have many more questions in the next few weeks, but for now we are looking for more information on the "Dollar Shuttle". To quote from PP website:

"At the resort's entrance, guests can flag down open-air Dollar Buses, which pass every 15-30 minutes from early morning to late evening and charge $1 for transport to Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie"

This sounds too good to be true. It is accurate? What is the catch?

The catch is: you ride at your own risk.

There have been attempts to legitimize these so-called "dollar rides" in the U.S. Virgin Islands due to the lack of adequate bus service and local residents' complaints that the taxicab industry favors visitors.

Yes, the ride is really $1 I am told that local residents pay this, while visitors pay $3, but I don't know how strictly the drivers enforce this. I have spoken to visitors who used the service for just a buck.
