Greetings,

Are dogs allowed on the beaches in STT? Are most folks there dog-friendly?

Dogs are generally not allowed on the beaches on STT. There have been some discussions on this subject in the past and if you do a keyword search on this forum, i.e. "dogs" "beaches" you'll find some feedback.

I lived in the islands a few years back and found that dogs aren't generally well recieved out there. I'd check out Water Island's Honeymoon Beach. Lots of friendly people and friendly dogs. There's a ferry that runs several times daily from Crown Bay STT. It's a great place to go (or stay!).

On Water Island, dogs must be on a leash. And, owners take care to be in control of pets and pick up after them.

There are a few beaches in STT that allow dogs - I take mine to Vessup or to Neltjberg (not sure how to spell it, just how to say it). Vessup you need to have a leash, but I let mine run free at the other one if there's other dog owners there, if anyone at all. Need a 4WD to get down there though and good clearance underneath - but one of my favorite beaches 🙂

As an addendum, Platform Beach which is on the Peterborg peninsula has been a longtime gathering place for people with dogs but again it's a rather remote beach and VERY small.

I once took my then-aging dog to Brewers Bay one night and she had a blast but that was way after dark.

You can certainly take your doggie for walkies here, Aussie, as long as you're able to keep up the leash pace! Cheers!

And PLEASE come prepared to pick up after them. On STX we have occasional horses who are on the beaches, expecially Cane Bay -- now that's a pooper scooper experience!!

Hull Bay Beach is also welcoming to dogs. As is Linqvist....Stumpy...Neltjberg...Sunsi...oh this list could go on and on! Basically, any beach that has no developement on it, or is not in a park (be it national or VI), will be OK to bring your pooch to.

Oh, yeah! I guess not everyone goes to the beach by boat, do they? Haha! Thanks, Res!
