I am a native Virgin Islander, specifically from St. Thomas. My mother is from Nevis and my father from St. Kitts. My wife is Jamaican. I have ties to the Dominican Republic through my father's father and a few other islands. I include all of this to highlight the fact that I have a great love and passion for the Caribbean and most definitely my beloved Virgin Islands.

I did not go to school for film and photography, but the strange thing is, I have a growing passion for both because in reality, I am a storyteller and I love to talk about my islands and the Caribbean. I tend to see things that others might not see or consider things others might not consider. My dream is to tell a story about a different Virgin Islands generally not considered, but it would not necessarily be for the tourist, but for the natives and those in the academia. The tourist/outsider with an eye for culture might find it interesting, however.

There are two projects dealing with the wider Caribbean I would love to do. One is more personal, but the other would be based on a VERY popular and enduring model most of us know about and have seen. It will focus on the Caribbean community and I mean the ENTIRE Caribbean community from Guyana to Toronto, from Belize to Germany, from L.A to England.

Now the problem. I have the vision and the ideas, but not the contacts or the means. I know there are people who have come to our shores that loves our islands and the Caribbean just as much as I do. I want to go beyond the usual. I want to go beyond the notion that we are just rum, sun and fun but I'm just a AT&T DSL technician in South Florida with big ideas. I am positive someone reading this can help or might have interest or know someone who might know someone who can make this a reality. Not only is this a potential "gold mine" (well the latter idea as I know "show me the money" is what matters to some), but I also want to create and leave a legacy for my children, our children and our islands. That to me is priceless.

I can be e-mailed at: [email protected] or [email protected]

I thank you

Um....don't fall all over yourselves with replies now. I am still fielding options.

Your last comment was interesting and only served to indicate what others might also have perceived from your first post - that you're looking for a windfall from a benevolent patron based solely upon your personal vision that you have a brilliant idea. Write the book or the screenplay or the script, get published and develop your idea properly.

All the best in fielding those options ...

Not really Old Tart. I only mentioned that because I know that is the business. People don't want to invest unless they "see" the money. "What's in it for me" they will ask in one way or another. I want to tell a story via film and then involve us all (the Caribbean community) in a collection of stories. If a 'windfall' comes, all the better, but it is not my primary basis at this point. I know that will come.

I don't consider myself a writer and I don't even know the route to publishers and however else people go about getting to such people. This was just my desperate effort to even get a notice because it beats standing on Main Street with a sign.

Yes, it is a subjective idea and many others may not even see any brilliance in it, but I've gotta try.
