I'll be staying at the Divi Carina Resort next week and would love to know anything you can tell me about the place that the brochure doesn't list. It looks fabulous but I'm sure there must be some "warts" too and I'd just like to be prepared.

thanks,

Hello Jazzie,

I stayed at Divi a couple years ago. Haven't looked at their brochure lately to compare my experience to it but I will share my thoughts. The resort is a bit far away from town/shopping/attractions. The East End, where its located, does offer very nice drives though - something not found on the other islands so worth noting - long flat roads along the coast and through farm land, grassy plains on one side and the ocean on the other - really nice. The room was nice, clean, nice little balcony overlooking the beach - not extremely fancy though. The staff was friendly. The beach is ok, it was nice for walking as you can walk along the Divi beach to Grapetree beach, really relaxing and pretty. The water area was sandy with some some pebbles/rocks and a bit rocky off to the side. I really enjoyed their breakfast at the poolside cafe, didn't have dinner or lunch there so not sure how that is. The pool is nice. The casino was nice, small compared to large stateside casinos but I enjoyed it and the bands were fun and entertaining. You will need a rental car if you want to do many things outside the resort.

Have a great time and I look forward to hearing your impressions of the resort when you return!!

Thanks Islander for your thoughts. 🙂 I'm very excited about this trip and I do have a rental car reserved but am a little concerned about that left side of the road driving experience.

I'm actually looking forward to the relaxation and slow pace. I love to dance and hopefully can find some fun nightlife. Eating and shopping are not high on my list of activities but I have read that there are some really good places for both. I'm more of a laid back cheeseburger kind of gal so I'm looking forward to the beach bars.

Thanks again and I'll post all about my trip when I'm back home.

Hello Jazzie,

The casino often has live bands - good dancing opportunity there. For cheeseburgers, good drinks and usually has live music try Cheeseburgers - not too far from Divi. The Beach restaurant at Buccaneer and the beach is nice - so might do that one beach/lunch day. Off the Wall is a good hang out. Rumrunners is fun - its in Christiansted. Head to the Caribbean BBQ & show at Protestant Cay - thats lots of fun, its on Tuesdays. Protestant Cay is the small cay off of Christiansted boardwalk - you have to take a short ferry (a couple minutes is all).

The driving isn't bad. The areas around Christiansted are a little confusing at first but overall the driving is fine.

Have a great time.
