*I am coming to St. Thomas on 12/7/04 on Princess Cruise Lines and want to shop. I am wondering how far it is from the WICO dock to Charlotte Amalie shopping area. Walking distance? Take a cab? 1 mile, 5, 10...??? Any information you can provide would be very helpful in my planning for the day in St. Thomas. Thanks!!!

About 2 miles. The cabs are a few dollars.

Hello Christi,

You can shop at the WICO dock area too... Havensight Shopping Mall is right there basically as soon as you step off the ship. Not as many stores as downtown but a large selection all the same.

Its about 6-8 minute cab ride to town, $3 one way per person. Some folks walk.

It is not a bad walk as you will be along the waterfront and December is not too hot. Gives you a chance to enjoy the sights at a slow pace. The summer months however, is a different story. Some folks off the ships walk to town then take a cab back.

Ronnie: Check it on your odometer. I believe it is one mile from Wendy's to the Coast Guard Dock.

I am going to love it if I am actually correct!! 🙂

As you write that, you could be correct. I have it clocked from the Tortola Wharf, not Vendor's Plaza.

Thank you all so much! Your information will help me a lot! (Now I just have to hope the next two months before my trip goes fast!)

Thanks again,
