Any hints/suggestions regarding getting discounts on renting STJ villas “last minute”? Thinking about trying this next year. Have seen a villa rental agency site or two that advertises “specials”, one even said flat out 20% discount if your rental happens within 30 days of reservation. Some others say “call for specials”. Others give no indication of looking to move rentals that still have availability with discounts.
Would like details from those of you out there who have successfully negotiated this process and a feel for how much of a needle in a haystack exercise this would be. Would be prepared for the extra effort involved to save enough $ to increase the frequency of our trips there. Thanks for any replies.
We didn't 'negotiate' our 20% discount as it was being offered at the time we were interested. I think it will all depend upon when you plan to visit and how flexible you can be. If you want to try during the High season, I can't see having much success unless you find an empty and can drop everything to make the trip.
More luck during the Low season, especially August - September but then storms can become more of an issue. It also seems several are not offered at all during that time. Another thing to bear in mind...the most popular villas and locations are so for a reason. Conversely, the ones more readily available are either as yet undiscovered gems or empty for a reason.
