I am planning another trip to St. John this spring and I am considering renting a jeep from Discount Car Rental. Can anyone give me any reviews on this company. Last year we rented from Amalie Car Rental and they were great but their prices seem to have gone up.
I recently rented from them. They were definitely the cheapest car rental place, but that came at a price. I had a Toyota Corolla and it had OBVIOUSLY been in a lot of wrecks. The women even went as far to tell me that it had a lawsuit on it. lol
When we were leaving, someone had come to exchange the Jeep they rented bc the driver's seat was all messed up. She said it was like an overweight person had crushed it. LOL
I do have to say... overall, the people there are nice/pleasant (there are only 3 people that work there), but make sure that if you do rent from them that you are happy with the car that they give you. Unfortunately, they are not at the airport, that is another downfall.
Amalie Car Rental is the best.
They keep up with their cars, and always there if you need them.
Owners are very nice - and you can depend on them/cars including what you have reserved is there waiting for you when you arrive.
Maybe that's why the price is higher?
I have rented from other named/other car rental agencies on the island, and to me Amalie Car Rental is #1.
But this is just my two cents worth.

I agree with 53jmoon- Amalie was the best for us! And yes, they were a little more, but having them waiting for us when we landed and then again when we arrived at the airport to return home- that was priceless! No hassles! Picking up rental cars have always delayed our excitement to start our vacation - but this was a totally different experience- our vacation started immediately!!! We even had a little fender bender with the jeep and they even made that experience easy - they just charged our credit card for the damage - sent us the paperwork along with pictures for us to forward to our credit card company - and the credit card company refunded the charge on our credit card immediately! I had no idea that our credit card would cover the damage- thanks to Amalie ! And Amalie didn't even push their accident insurance on us, so we didn't buy it, so we were kind of worried, so we called them after it happened and they said, "No worries, we will take care of it when we meet you at the airport for the car return- enjoy the rest of your trip." That was worth the extra money!
