you will only need a taxi if you leave cruz bay...
Good restaurants with a sunrise:
Asolare(taxi)
Zozo's
Paradiso
moonrise:
Chateau Bordeaux(taxi)

Otherwise, you wont get a great sunrise but there is Chloe and Bernards(in the westin, where I work) and La tapa. At Chloes we have a nice view.
Right now stone terrace is closed.
Lime Inn is closed.
I dont know about morgans mango but i dont recommend them anyhow.

I vote for Chateau Bordeaux, not a sunset view but incredible vista of the BVI from just about the highest point on St John.
Go early enough to have a drink enjoy the view and then on to the really quite spectacular food. CB is a lovely treat, you won't regret it!

Do you need to reserve a table at Chateau Bordeaux?

I would say, yes definitely make reservations at Chateau Bordeaux, ask for a window table. You can check out the menu here.

What's the dress code @ Chateau Bordeaux. We are only on St John for the day.....home base is St Thomas. If we are hiking, swimming, siteseeing etc all day. Will a sundress for me and shorts for my husband be OK.
Thanks
Ruth

You can dress casual to formal there.
So yeah, you'll be fine.
No bathing suits, though.

Ruth,

Suggestion: try to end your swimming, siteseeing at somewhere like Trunk bay so you can rinse off and change out of salty cloths... just so you are more comfortable. Nothing like doing to dinner - sweaty, salty and wet... LOL. Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay have showers where you can rinse off; bring a change of cloths/underwear with you so you can change....

Causual dress is fine like Chris said.
