Ok, I want to get opinions on which night to go where - such as Tues nite for "open mike" at Latitude 18.
I know there was a lobster nite somewhere, margarita nite somewhere, but I have not written this down! I want to start getting this info in order. Its only 75 days to wheels up!
We are arriving on a Thurs, departing on Thurs. I expect we'll eat the first night a Blue Moon, simply because we'll be so exhausted from getting up a 3:00am.
Thanks for any info you have!
I want to add that we're going to STJ for a day, but haven't yet decided to take people ferry or car barge. I know if we take the car, we can't stay late enough for dinner there, so I'd rather take people ferry. Or we could always ferry over another evening just for dinner.

Mountaineer Girl: As I recall, you will be here the last week in April, during Carnival, am I correct? During that time, there will probably be lots of special events going on. As you arrive on Thursday, make sure you pick up the Island Trader that comes out that day. It is free and you can pick it up at many outlets. They usually have them at the bar at the Blue Moon, at the Food Center, Marina Market and other places on the east end... Things will change toward the end of April. For example, if you were to be arriving next week, I would recommend seeing Dick Solberg, the Sun Mountain Fiddler at Latitude 18 Thurs, Fri or Sat. But he will be gone by St Patty's Day. So, be careful, call ahead or look in the Island Trader for current bands, dinner specials.
Thanks to both of you! Sounds like ANY night we can make it to the Greenhouse will be a good night!
Yes, we will be there 04/19-04/26, and will definitely pick up the Island Trader. Thanks for your help.
Looking at the Carnival schedule, we will get to check out the food fair, and possibly some island music from local bands at the Stadium.
I may not be able to drag the others off the beach at Secret Harbour to do any of this stuff!
Definitely drag them for Food Fair. Or if they can't give up the sun, go for the opening of Carnival Village Monday night. See if Stanley (the Secret Harbour taxi man) is doing some sort of shuttle, because parking is impossible. Either way, you will get a special taste of the VI! Goat water, conch pate, Barbados flying fish, St Kitts Carib, roti of all types, whelks and rice...yum...I am getting hungry thinking of it.
Here's a few more:
Wednesday: Paradise Point, Sunset Party w/live music.
Thursday: Mims, all you can eat shrimp
Friday: Roberts, lobster special 1 1/2 lb ($40 ?)
Tuesday: Duffys Love Shack, $2 tacos
Mountaineer Girl,
Here is a link to the Island Trader on line. It shows most of the special nights in different ads.

For a really nice night out my favorite is the Mafolie www.mafolie.com
The Greenhouse is usually a lot of fun as well. If you get a chance do a day trip over to water island and Honeymoon beach.

DO be sure to check out what's going on at Bolongo. They've had all you can eat crab legs & different specials like that.
Thanks for all your responses. The decision on where to eat is a BIG deal to us! While limin' on the beach, its our biggest decision of the day. 🙂
You'll find that eating at The Blue Moon will take you back there another night - and maybe another. The food is awesome, to say the least. It is a very highly rated restaurant on the island. Be sure to share the smoked gouda-blu cheesecake appetizer with everyone at the table. Everything from fish and seafood to the steaks to the Jamaican porkloin is done to perfection and the wine list is great. Lunches are equally as good. It's very casual and relaxing - a place to sit and "chill" for hours if one so chooses.
Don't miss Mims down the beach from Bolongo. GREAT seafood and a beautiful setting (at night - in the daytime it looks a little iffy) sitting on the patio above the rocks.
Iggies at Bolongo is SO much fun. And the bar food is delicious.....you may not remember what you had the next day since drinking is the main event here, however. Have fun!
