Looking at all the posts here, I probably should've posted this before I signed a contract, but it's just recently that I realized I should start thinking about what we're doing on vacation in a few months.

We booked a villa through Destination St John, which is called Hale Lani. The ladies there were very helpful and really gave us a lot of pointers and showed us a lot of villas before we ultimately picked this one. (We'd looked at two places right on Cruz Bay that ended up being booked when we wanted to go.)

Anyhow, so far I've been impressed with the rental company, and what I've seen of the villa looks nice. Guess I thought I'd see if anyone has any pointers or first-hand opinions.

We used Destination St. John while staying at Calypso Cove last February. They were great, responded to emails quickly before the trip and refunded my security deposit after the trip in 2 weeks. We didn't need to contact them while on island, but I can't imagine that they would not respond to any requests, etc. We met our greeter at the office and then followed him to Fish Bay, the house was exactly like the photos online, and clean upon arrival, so we were very pleased. What more could you ask for?

Next year we will be staying at Sunrise in Coral Bay and using Great Caribbean Getaways, and again they have responded to emails in a timely manner, which to me is always a good sign. Any feedback on Sunrise would be appreciated.

I used DSJ last year and am booked for next April through them again. I cannot say enough good things about them. We rented 2 villas from the last year and before the contracts were signed, the owner of one of the villas decided to use the house during "our" week. Laura from DSJ called me as soon as she found out and spent several hours (until after 7:00 p.m.) looking at OTHER agencies websites for me to find an appropriate second house - which we did. Laura gave me a discount on the 1 house we ended up renting from them for my trouble. Once on island (at Cara Mia, a lovely home), we had torrential downpours and one of the bedrooms drew some water. DSJ sent someone out immediately when I called to wetvac it up. Oh, and I had a rental car snafu just 3 DAYS before arriving during St. Thomas carnival (I rented 2 cars at the airport, but they only reserved one). I was looking at 9 people and one jeep!!! A call to Laura and within 15 minutes she had secured me a vehicle at St. John Car Rental and saved the day!! Relax, you are in excellent hands!

So far, they have been awesome. It was kind of like that with us. We had picked a house right on Cruz Bay from another company, and the owner decided his friends wanted to use it. Then we found a house with DSJ right on Cruz Bay and the same thing happened. I'd picked some other places, but the lady that I'd talked to said they weren't really right for our group and gave me tons of suggestions. We were on the phone for quite a while. They've been great so far, and are very good about answering my questions.

Does anyone have any pointers on Hale Lani? It seems like everyone has experiences with so many villas. I guess I have no idea what to expect except the most amazing view that I've ever seen!
