I don't know if that is a good price or not but I've recommended them to people many times and I have heard nothing but rave reviews. I rented from them when I first got on island and was completely satisfied.

Don't forget to check the major car renters at the national on-line sites. Rates are most often cheaper than calling directly.

Try AVIS at the airport.

Use the Entertainment Book coupon number for a 10% discount. Or you may have another form of discount membership.

The last time I checked a mid size ran about $189. plus fees for a week. Book on line! www.avis.com

Hertz also offers a 10% discount to AAA members. Book on line. www.hertz.com As I recall they are about $10. more expensive than Avis.

We are using Thrifty, and that was the best price I found. It's $205 after all the taxes for the smallest (economy) car and $20 more for the mid-size and that's for a week. I think Dependable quoted me $273 for economy for the week. Yikes. It's only a small car!

I have been using Dependable for years and have never had an issue or problem. There was the year I messed up my reservation and they jumped through hoops to get me a very nice new car at the last minute even though I wasn't scheduled. I have refered many friends (and strangers) to them and have always gotten good reports on their service and friendliness. I don't shop around anymore and certainly would rather deal with an island operation rather than a chain.

Have used Dependable alot too - nice people and as per their name, very dependable. They come & pick you up at the airport promptly & take you promptly back when ready. They'll let you take their cars to St. John too-some companies have a restriction on that. Overall great customer care!
