Hey all, I was wondering if anyone out there has had luck finding a personal/private chef on STT or STJ? I currently am a personal chef stateside for several families as well as catering small cocktail parties and private dinner parties.
We will be moving to STT next summer and I am trying to research to see if there is the demand and desire for vacationers to have a chef prepare food for them during their stay. Could be anything from family reunions, intimate dinners, wedding cocktail parties, box lunches for day trips to cheffing on yachts. Could be as easy (and great!) as island inspired cuisine to gourmet dishes to traditional "comfort" food that is familiar. How about travelers that want to eat healthy and not blow their diet, or have dietary restrictions and allergies?
so, if you are a vacationer please let me know what your thoughts are about this? Would this be something you would do?

so far from what i have seen and from earlier feedback there definitely is a demand, now I want to get your thoughts!
so fire away, give me your ideas....Please!!!!

thanks so much!

STT and even more so STJ are small communities where word of mouth carries great weight - you can certainly succeed here as a private chef but it will take some time to establish your credentials and reputation.
Starting a catering business will require some initial costs and finding a location that is commercial and or licensed may take some research.
Working within an established business may allow you to network yourself over time into the situation you describe.Coming on island [either] as an unknown entity is an almost daily scene here so sometimes the learning curve may seem steep but we see people come and go or fail to live up to their word all too frequently, for many reasons although alcohol is a common one.
Contact some of the villa companies once you are here and get to know the others in that niche industry and you will get more familiar with the opportunities.
