You can't really sail to visit Bomba. You need to go to West End or Cane Garden Bay and take a taxi. Are you going to take the teenagers and elderly parents there??? (Not highly recommended)

You can do a day trip on the Tortola ferry from St. John, but you have to leave before night fall. I have tried to get to Bomba Shack for the full moon party without overnighting before. The problem is that you have to go through customs when going between islands. A water taxi costs on the order of $200+ one way. It would be cheaper to get a room at Sebastian's or Cane Garden Bay Beach Hotel and crash when you run out of energy. There are always a ton of taxis hanging around Bomba's to take the tourists home. Another option is staying up until the morning ferry leaves.

I'm hitting St. John for my fifth time on 10/25. I have been to a lot of other places in the Caribbean, but this is my favorite. I have never stayed at Cygnus, but I rent from Caribbean Villas (www.caribbeanvilla.com) and they list Cygnus. All of the properties that Caribbean Villas manages are at least good.

I have snorkeled the point between Chocolate Hole and Devers Bay. This is the point opposite your deck. It is an excellent spot!! My house is Sunset Beach on Devers Bay.

On catering for the fist night, I think this is a great idea. Starfish Market and Tropicale have prepared food. Uncle Joe's BBQ in Cruz Bay has great carryout. Check with your rental company for a recommendation if you want someone to come in and serve food.

Cheers, Rick

Unless your 17 year old is accustomed to seeing people so drunk that they end up naked, vomiting on themselves and passing out I would not recommend Bomba's for the full moon party.
I've been twice and I'll never do it again. I would seriously rethink this for a teen.
