Never had been to Water Island, but STJ is a must. You can either take your car over on the barge or take the people ferry.

Get to some of those beaches over there, they're gorgeous and just the drive is so beautiful.

Jost Van Dyke is beautiful too. Foxy's side is usually pretty quiet, but the Soggy Dollar Bar can get really nuts with alot more people.

Crystal clear water....just amazing.

Depending on how many people you have with you, you could charter your own boat and I suggest Captain Kevin and his boat "Born to Rhumb". He will take you wherever you want to go and if you're not sure, he'll take you to the best places. A really great day.

Good luck! Take care!

Hello Kelly,

St. John: If you rent a car on St. Thomas you can take it over on the car barge. (Check with your car rental agency first, most allow their vehicles to be taken to STJ but a few do not.) Otherwise you can take the passenger ferry; taxis are readily available in Cruz Bay and at popular beaches. Some easily accessible beaches include those on the northshore... Hawksnest, Caneel, Cinnamon, Trunk Bay. Some beaches on STJ require a hike like Honeymoon and Salt Pond. If you aren't packing a picnic lunch and heading to the beach then you'd want a beach with food/drink. Caneel has a resort on site with restaurants. Trunk Bay has a food booth. Cinnamon Bay has a campground on site & a casual open air restaurant & a small convenience store. Depending on your plans you could also plan for lunch in Cruz Bay or if you are on the Coral Bay side, there are a few restaurants there also.

Water Island: Take the ferry over. There aren't any taxis on Water Island so you'd need to walk from the ferry dock to Honeymoon Bay. Its a short walk, mild incline to the top of the hill and then a steeper downhill to the beach. Honeymoon is a pretty beach, calm, lots of palm trees for natural shade and there are some palapas umbrellas too. Bring some picnic food/drink with you just in case, but Heidi's Grill is usually there for lunch and Joe's Beach Bar has drinks.
