I am looking to day sail while in the islands in April. I would like to sail to jost van dyke from st. thomas. I am wondering if any body can recommend any company to sail with. I have been to the islands before and have sailed around stj but would like to see jvd, tortola and virgin gorda. If any body knows of anybody that would sail and hit a couple of the previous mentioned spots in one day that would help also.

Check out Captain Clark and the "White Wing". The Wife and I have sailed with him for a couple years now and always have an incredible time. His web site is...

Try Captain Omar...he advertises here on VINOW....see the home page.

He also offers over-night trips to Jost.

We went on New Horizons II with Danielle & Chad out of Sapphire Beach. You go to Virgin Gorda for customs for 15 minutes, the Baths for a tour, Marina Cay for lunch, then snorkle for an hour, and Jost for 90 minutes. Never felt rushed...all drinks included & breakfast & shrimp snack on the way back. We booked in the lobby of Sapphire ( don't have to be guests there..we weren't)

I enquired about daysails to the BVI on an earlier post (another trip) and recall being advised that sails to BVI are normally overnight trips, not daysails. Can anyone confirm this? I would love to daysail to Sandy Spit and around Jost - but had been previously advised that this was most likely not agreeable with captains.

Hey Bluewater...my wife and I sailed on the WhiteWing with Captain Clark last June to Jost for the day. We left Coral Bay at 9AM. We sailed to Tortola to check in with British customs. Then to Sandy Spit for a couple hours of incredible snorkling. We then stopped off at Foxy's to get a couple drinks....what a great place! We didn't get back to the dingy dock til around 9PM. Boy....did we get our monies worth. Looking forward to doing the same day sail this year!

Blu:

See my post above.....I'm sure that Capt. Omar will take you there for the day. We had that option in September.

Future Islander and In Love, Thank you!

I am so glad to read that daysails to the BVI are an option. This forum is great for clearing things up.

I am so glad someone asked the question about day sails to the BVI! I am still trying to decide what my best options are for visiting Jost, Virgin Gorda, and Tortola. Thanks!!

Jay, Captain Larry and Betty are here on our boat now, playing canasta and drinking buds and Cruzan/Diet. They said you guys were a lot of fun, and they enjoyed having you onboard. We have another trip to Jost this Friday; this time on Slo Dancin; we do the day trip about once a week, and the overnights when we have demand. Captain Larry said to come back soon; he always likes having sailors on board.

Here is the corrected version of the above text without so many Bushwhackers. The wife said I can't post drunk anymore.

We just sailed yesterday with Forever Young through interline at Red Hook Yesterday, Google them and you will find the link. Larry and Betty were great we actually did an overnight at Jost Friday all day and a drop off Saturday afternoon. It was a real good time.

Hope this clears things up.

Island Carolina Girl,
Tell them we said hi. I went by there today on the tender from a friends boat that we were out sailing on today. We ran into Redhook and snagged some subs from subway but I didn't' see the tender so we didn't stop.

Gary,

I don't know the rules for advertising on this board but if you aren't violating them they need changed. If you want to promote your business here then I would suggest contacting the administrator and buying an add. Trying to hijack every thread even remotely related to your business is not going to be an effective marketing tool. You would be much better served trying to be help full when you have something positive to say about a particular post than a blatant plug for your business with no real meat to your message. I was particularly offended by your tack on about rental cars claiming none of them have parking but you can do a day sail instead? WTF is that, it is of no help to someone trying to decide which rental agency to use. Have you ever been ashore on St John? All of the rental companies have lots downtown, some better than others. If you want a better example on how to contribute here take a look at some of Ruth's posts. She own St John Spice and posts on this and all the other VI Boards regularly but you hardly ever here her mention her business unless she is asked directly about it. Even though, I would bet almost everyone knows were her business is and what it does. I am certain this has a positive effect on her business with out coming off like a jewelry barker from downtown Charlotte Amalia.
