We travel to STJ and JVD each year. The most time we ever spend on STT is arriving and departing the islands. Our vacations are pretty low key for our children, (esp. our teenager). They have talked us into a cruise for spring break. We thought they would have a good time with lots to do since we will be spending two weeks on STJ and JVD this summer.

Can someone please recommend something for us to do on our STT day. Our kids would like to do something on STT. Magen's Bay and Coki beach look beautiful but also very crowded. ( I guess I better get used to that!) We are not too much into touristy things.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Just got back from time on STT & STJ. Cokies and Megens were way too crowded when cruise ships are in. Check the schedule. We stayed in condo on Bolongo Bay. Nice beach, volleyball nets for kids. Iggies is a grat bar. $2 happy hour $4 otherwise. Check their website for events. Caribbean night was fun with fireeater etc. Lots of families & fun. Mafolie is a great place for dinner with a view. Food was good at Maggie Malones in Red Hook.

Do you know which day you arrive on STT? Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday are usually the busiest cruise ship beach days. If you want to beach it, Sapphire is a nice beach & probably won't be crowded. The restaurant up the hill is, I think, open for lunch.

You could do the Atlantis submarine. The office is located in Havensite where, most likely your ship will dock.

Or do the kayak ecotours of the mangrove lagoon

Take the tram up to Paradise Point. The bird show is worth the trip alone.

I don't know anyone who has done this but I bet your kids would have a blast doing it. (Don't know the cost)

YES! The kayak ecotour of the mangrove lagoon!!! We had done that several years ago and it was nothing short of WONDERFUL!!!! It was a very unique experience - very interesting - and beautiful. When we had gone, we were lucky enough for our group to be very tiny and intimate - it was only our family of 3 (me, husband & then, 15 year old son) and 2 other people - plus our wonderful guide - although I think more people would not make it any less wonderful though 😉 !! Paddling around in this remote unusual area was quite memorable - and not touristy at all!!!!

Definitely something worthwhile to consider!!

ENJOY!!

We had some friends and their children down visiting us November/2006. They did the Atlantis submarine and loved it! A couple of the kids did complain a little about the "long" boat ride out to the submarine (which I believe is anchored out at Buck Island - the Buck Island off coast of STT) but once the submarine experience well exceeded their expectations and they could not stop talking about it. I thought it was a bit pricey - $89/person I think.
