Hello,

First - thanks to all for the help given on this great board. The search function yields so much trip planning information.

Going to STT June 20-28 for our honeymoon. Staying at Secret Harbor.

We are taking the Captain Nautica day long trip to the BVI on Friday the 24th. However I am also interested in doing a snorkel trip that stays in the USVI to visit reefs that are not accessable by land. We are going to see the indians on the BVI trip and we will have a jeep to get to the beaches on STT and STJ.

I had read a number of positive reviews for the White Wing and Captain Clark that sounded like what we were looking for, but the only trips that he has open on the days we are there are to the BVI.

Can someone recommend a day snorkel trip out of Red Hook that will snorkel in locations that we cannot get to by land?

Thanks
Kevin

I have asked the following companies for info/pricing on their day sails. If anyone has comments good/bad please let me know. If you don't want to post it you can email me at [email protected]

Thanks!

Hello Kevin,

All good choices and they run similar operations - so tough decision, but you won't go wrong with any of them. Double check but I think they all pretty much sail and go to two snorkel spots around St. John. Some of the snorkel spots might not quite be inexcessiable from land like you are describing, just maybe further out on a penisula for example so the swim from the beach would be a long one but certainly possiable. Look into it so you know what you are getting. If you are doing a private sail, just your party, then perhaps you could request some more not easily acessiable snorkel spots.

Another option is to rent a boat with captain from something like http://www.stthomasboatrentals.com and then tell the captain the spots you had in mind.

We took a local daysail out of cruz bay called the Gypsy Spirit 2 at www.vi-sun-n-fun.com they are a couple who picked us up at the dock after we got off of the ferry and brought us back to the dock afterwards. It was great. Captain Doug knew where to take us (depending on wind and weather conditions, windy day when we went out but he stayed on the south side of one of the islands) for the best visibility we swam with Teka his mate, saw a huge sea turtle, many colorful fish and dolphin. There are many links from different sources it just takes some time surfing the net. I used Frommers, and several others.

Hello Kevin, we will also be staying at Secret Harbour from 6/20 to 6/26. This is my wife's 50th birthday trip and our 1st stay in St. Thomas, although we've been there several times on cruise ship stops. We have a day sail with the Winifred and Daydreamer and a dinner cruise scheduled. Looking forward to driving around and exploring STT & STJ.

See you on the Islands!!!

Hi Alan,

We will see you there!

From what I have seen Islander is right. Most of the trips look very similar. So I am just going based upon the email responses and general feel I get for a particular outfit.

Thanks
Kevin
