Looking for a power boat tour that can accommodate our time needs for a trip to the Baths, one other snorkel stop and/or Soggy Dollar. We always prefer to book with the locals VS cruise ship tours. Our ship, RCC Serenade, will be docked at 0700 on 1/22/2006 and leaves at 1730 (5:30P). Thanks.

Timing is not going to allow for most of the set excursions (with a group) such as New Horizons' Breakaway II. Which I think departs at 7:15 am at Sapphire Harbor in STT. I think, though, that they do a pickup in St. John around 9:00. You might be able to catch the ferry from STT to STJ - - although it would be a close call. Link below:

Otherwise, I would think your best bet is to rent a powerboat & captain. More expensive, but you can set your own itinerary. You should easily be able to head to Virgin Gorda/Baths, Soggy Dollar and/or snorkel. Try Nauti Nymph for this.

We were just on the breakaway last Wednesday. Arrival was at Sapphire beach dock at 7AM and we returned around 4:30PM.

Sherry: I believe you might save the BVI tour for your next visit, when you have more time to spend. If you run into any troubles with your private boat (I agree that you won't make it on the organized excursions), you will be staying until you can get yourself to the next port of call! There are plenty of shorter day trips you can do and get back in time for sailing! 🙂

East Ender - - I completely agree! I wouldn't take that chance either given the timing. I would be a nervous wreck the whole time - - too many variables (weather, boat problems, customs). If you're going to spend the money on the powerboat rental/captain (usually $500 all together) - - you should get your money's worth by taking advantage of the full 8:00 - 5:00.
