I don't know how much this place charges because the rates are not posted on their web page. Since they take out a bigger boat with more people it may be less than most other day cruises. (They seem to cater to cruise ship passengers since they leave from the cruise ship dock)

Some of the dive shops offered "snorkel trips" that were about $40/$50. They don't mention how long they are.

I have no clue what the rates are, but did you look at Virgin Islands Ecotours?

Homer's does a kayak snorkel trip.

I checked into lots of boat trips for our recent trip - we ended up taking 5 boat trips. The going rate for an entire day was $125 (plus gratuity) per person for adults. I never checked any rates for kids. Depending on how big your family is, many of them charged a flat fee for the entire day. Try calling Captain Pat of Ike Witt if you want to go snorkeling and sailing - he may work something out for you. Here is his web page:

If you want to take the passenger ferry over to St. John there was Captain Bob of the Spree who claims he has the lowest rates for a day sail:

The Sadie Sea out of St. John also had lower rates for trips. This trip was highly recommended by the condo owner we rented from, but we preferred a sail boat.

Otherwise your least expensive day cruise would be a ferry boat to one of the British Virgin Islands. A think a ferry boat to Virgin Gorda exploring in The Baths would be fun for kids of any age. (We jumped off a rock ledge just like kids.)
Enjoy the trip.

Another way to go on the cheap would be to take a timeshare tour at Bluebeard's Castle (don't buy it!) and they will give you a 2 for one coupon for the New Horizons full day sail: http://newhorizons.daysails.com/ They do a great trip, around a $100 a head, all inclusive, kids cheaper.

They have several diferent thing that can give away to bribe people to come in to listen to the schpeil. I was the Sales Manager for two of their resorst here, so I kinda know them all! haha! The "money" isn't actual, cash, so to speak, but is a coupon that can be used at several places for shopping, just like cash. IMO, the Pirate's Chest at Paradise Point is the best place to spend the dough they give you. Best bang for the buck. But, the 2-4-1 coupon is well worth it! Shoot, I could drink $100 worth of drinks on the New Horizons! Haha! (before AA, of course! Hehe!) And the food is dynamite. Snorkeling, sunning, swimming, sailing, drinking...yeah, it's a great deal!

the scubadu boat out of red hook, or st. john, is 700 min. a day.
a private catamaran, we had 4 people.the boat was all ours for the day. thats 350 a couple, 175 per person. beer and pop and food included, for all day. menu on the website. i felt rich for a day, joe the captain is a great guy, the boat even better. bet he would make you a deal.
doesn't hurt to check into it. all i know is i would do it again in a heartbeat! 9-5 the sailing hours. scooby
