We were on St John in May for 9 days. Since then my daughter has developed this mysterious skin "thing" She has been to 2 emergency rooms, the dermotologist twice and had a skin biopsy done. All there are saying is it is dermatitis. The rest of us seem to think that some type of parasite has gotten under her skin and is causing all this misery. She was bitten bad and of course itched, wondering if anyone might know of something that could have crawled into one of those bites. We are baffled.

The mom hopes that daughter is reading the advice you are all giving.
Thanks

And if she's not? Oh no, it's Hallowe'en and maybe you just should beat her with a broomstick and conjure up a potion of newt eyes and snail's feet. Just kidding.

Mum, you've done your best and your daughter should really feel bloody good that she has a Mum who cares enough to address the issue and gets onto a forum to ask what you asked. The responses have been very varied but all with good intent and I do hope that a resolution will soon come. Cheers!

As a preschool teacher who has wrestled with ringworm more than once, please get a prescription from your doctor! While products like Tinactin can help relieve the symptoms, at your point, if it is ringworm, the over-the-counter meds will be nothing more than a band-aid...and you need a cure! I've actually gone through nearly two tubes of prescription med (Naftin), over several months, to rid myself of ringworm! Believe me - you need to be persistent and consistent for it to be history! Best of luck! Good news - I haven't had it for two years, now!! God bless those little ones...and the variety of "gifts" they bestow on their teachers! Keep us posted!

Hi mricco:
Hope you can open the link below. Not sure if it will be of use to you. We will be in StThomas in 2 wks on a cruise and while I was surfing I came across this. Good Luck!
If you can't open you might try Google: at the top of my printed page is: Welcome to the St.John USVI Island & More On-line Travel Guide in the US Virgin Isla... or maybe just: "www.travelvi.com " and hopefully you can find this article?
