Hmm interesting. I have a few concerns, however.

That sounds like a very steep rate, especially since those flights are coming from smaller airports in the region. If those are walk-up fares (rates for purchasing the same day of travel), I would be OK with that. But hopefully, the airline will have lower fares if one books early in advance. Also, usually when "discount airlines" like Southwest, etc... utilize smaller airports in a region (i.e. Providence/Manchester instead of Boston, or Ft. Lauderdale instead of Miami), fares are usually significantly cheaper than flying from larger airports. But I can see myself finding better deals on major airlines from MIA and ATL than the fares you listed.

Another concern is... why fly from airports that are IMPOSSIBLE to connect to? Have you noticed that in many cases, the majority of people flying from Miami to the VI do not originate in Miami? The same goes for Atlanta, as well. I mean, the airports you listed have little or no commercial traffic. I am not sure if the O & D (originating and disembarking - non connecting) traffic from Atlanta and Miami to the Virgin Islands is strong enough to justify flying from those airports.

Just my two cents,
Dominic

Another thing... I didn't want my post to sound entirely pessimistic 🙂

I feel that, with my concerns aside, this airline would definitely provide much-needed air traffic into the Virgin Islands, especially St. Croix. I hope the airline works out!

I was assuming that Fulton County airport was actually Hartsfield. There is no Fulton County airport that I know of.

Well if it was ATL, Delta already has direct flights to STT.

Which airline are we talking about here? 🙂

To be frank, I didn't fully understand the original message. I read the obscure or less-trafficked airports comment in the message to mean "Fulton County Airport." There is no such thing, but many people call Hartsield by that name. It is the only airport in the Atlanta area flying to the Caribbean.

Long and short of it - you are correct. Delta, I believe, flies direct from Atlanta. So does American, and the cost right now is $350 round trip. Just booked a trip for June with my wife.....

I did a Google search, and actually Fulton County Airport is a separate airport from Hartsfield Int'l or whatever that airport is called now.

Also, you are incorrect in saying that American flies direct to the VI from Atlanta. They fly directly to St. Thomas from JFK, Boston, Miami and San Juan. They fly directly to St. Croix from Miami.
