We will be staying on St. Thomas for one night on Friday, June 3, before heading over to St. John for the week. We will have our two kids with us - 21 and 23 years old. I've heard alot about Cuzzins and thought we'd try dinner there. As this will be our first night of our vacation we want something really fun to start our week. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Cathy

If you consider having dinner fun, I would think that Cuzzin's would fit your bill. If you are looking for a loud and crazy place to eat, then Cuzzin's isn't that. Kids at 21 and 23? Thought those were adults!

Ronnie - Thanks for your response. I think we will try Cuzzins. No, we don't need loud and crazy - when we go to St. John the next day six other people will be joining us and the whole week will be loud and crazy! Yes, the kids are adults - but to me they will always be my "babies"!!! I'm just happy they still like to vacation with Mom and Dad. Can't wait until June 3!

Cuzzins is nice but it is in the middle of town and real close to some scary places, especially at night. I would head to Red Hook because there are lots of different options within walking distance; Molly Malones, Off the Hook, Duffy's Love Shack, etc. I am sure that your "kids" would love Duffy's and there are some nice shops across the street from there that stay open pretty late for the parents.

Yes, I'd be a little wary of Backstreet after 5 p.m. as well. However one way to significantly reduce the likelihood of any danger would be to arrange to have the same taxi driver who drops you off (in front of Cuzzins) pick you up at a certain time.

There are certain does and don'ts concerning the back street area. Yes, have a cab drop you and ask them to come back. If staying in town, no need to go to the East End to find someplace to eat. There are similar places like the EE in St. John, even Duffy's. Cuzzin's serves hundreds of dinners to tourists monthly with no problems. They do have security in the street just in case. Well worth the experience!

We went to St. Thomas in April. I thought Cuzzins offered the best food on the island. Although the location isn't ideal, I wouldn't let that stop you. We drove ourselves and felt safe.

Ryan: Cuzzin's is in a historic building and offers local cuisine. For people searching for an authentic St Thomas experience, I would recommend Cuzzin's hands-down over Americanized places like Molly's and Duffy's. One can have a burger anywhere. Where in the states can you have Ole Wife with fungi and provisions? 😉
