I've gotten the impression from this message board that clearing customs coming back from BVI to SJ can be quite time consuming. My husband and I have been to the Baths, Jost, Norman, etc. on several tourrs. We are traveling with our girls this Christmas and want to take them to these great spots but now I'm wondering if it's worth it. If we have to wait 3 hours to clear customs in SJ it seems like that would be a real downer on the day. Do any of you local experts have a sense of what to expect on a BVI trip? My girls are 12 and 16, the 12 year old is ADHD. Please note t the time of year(Dec.17-Dec 26). Any advice would be appreciated. We are staying in a lovely villa and there are so many great places to explore on SJ I don't want to waist a day sitting in a customs line when we're hot and tired. On the other hand I would hate for them to miss these great natural wonders. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Deb,
I'm not sure exactly what gave you the impression clearing back in could take 3 hours (I might have missed that thread or discussion), but it's never taken us more than 10 minutes returning from the usual day trips such as on New Horizons or Pirates Penny. If you're crusing, clearing an entire sailboat back into the USVI may take longer, but just returning from a day trip yourselves shouldn't be a big deal at all.
