My family is eagerly anticipating our trip to St. John and St.Thomas late next week.
One thing I am a bit concerned about is mosquitoes.. they love me and my youngest daughter.
I spent many years working as yacht crew in the BVI during the late 80's and early 90's, but I've not really spent much time ashore in the VI, especially overnight in a residence.
In St.John we'll be staying at Caneel Bay resort.. in St.Thomas at a home in Mahogany Run.
Are there many mosquitoes right now?
Right now no - a few weeks ago we had a "swarm" but all is good now and we are back to what we consider to be a normal amount 🙂
Also, Caneel is wonderful as they spray and even when the beaches were unbearable Caneel's beaches were excellent.
Enjoy
Pia
Thanks Pia.
Mahogany Run is usually quite dry and windy - not a good combo for many mosquitos - keep the screens closed and off the beaches at sunset - feeding hour.
No matter what the weather conditions or time of day, the "no-see-um's" on St John will track me down. I pull out the bug spray while waiting at the baggage claim in STT and don't stop spraying until I'm back home again. I also carry as much "after-bite" medication as will fit in my 8 oz zip lock! Good luck and I hope you enjoy your trip.
