Does anyone know if and where you can get a cuban cigar in STT or STJ? If not where on the BVI is a good place to pick a few up?
The Havana Blue restaurant at the Marriot has pre-embargo cubans for sale. They go for $175 each. I think it is still illegal to purchase post-embargo cubans in the USVI since it is still the US. I may be wrong but, I think that is the case. There are still lots of cigar places in havensight and in town though.
You will need to go to the BVI for Cuban's. We did purchase some in Tortolla and they were horrible. Very stale. We picked them up at Pussers.
They have a couple cigar shops in STT that are pretty good. One at Havensite (In a jewelery store)
A couple downtown and a couple bars sell them too
pre-embargo cubans are horrable. You need to find a friend who has aCuban daughter in-law that makes the trip one a year! 🙂
I wouldn't know, I wasn't about to spend $175 on a 50yr old cigar. The waiter said they have been stoed in a humidor the entire time. I think its more of a status thing.
If I'm gonna smoke something for a $175.00 it won't be 50 year old cuban. 🙂
I am sure you can find all of that you would want there. I would just do it during the day, don't go in those areas at night.
ha ha. was kidding but thanks for the tip. 🙂
That all stopped when I graduated college and joiined the real world. I did smell some at megans bay last week coming from a guy with dreads down to his waist. There is so much rum down there you won't want anything else. K-MArt has 1/2 gallons of Cruzan rum for $6.50 and Johnie Walker Black Liters for $23
Sounds great. Can't wait to get my hands on that rum. mmmmmm...
Ryan, where did you stay?
at frenchmans marriot
Will be at morningstar next week.
Every place (except one) I have been where Cuban cigars are sold (legally) they were a less than satisfying and way over priced! This includes Paris, BVI, Canada, Cayman. They were usually in a state of near decomposition that got worse as you smoked it. A good Honduran or Dominican cigar is a much better value. The one exception to the above is Belize. At Fido's in San Pedro they sell (Cuban) Cohiba Espelandes (big ones) for $10. Very fresh and superior to any cigar I have ever had! (There is only so much room in a fly rod tube! (Unless you throw away the rod!)
