Cruzan 120 has become one of my favorite rums after accidental picking one up at Plaza Extra. It was next to the regular Cruzan and the labels are a similar color. I know that any 151 proof liquor is forbidden on planes (flammable liquid), but what about 120 proof Cruzan?

Anything of 100 proof or higher will burn. I was questioned at the airport about having 151 but no mention of 120. Is this Cruzan's way to let us legally bring stronger than normal 80 proof home?

I bought Cruzan 120 & 151 proof and took it on the plane. I didn't know anything about it not be legal. I had it in the travel boxes that you get.

But will you be able to carry it on since they just put in the new security about no liquid in carry ons? Or to bring on board?

My understanding is that Cruzan created the lower proof 120 expressly because 151 proof was no longer allowed on the airplanes at all.

So, I shouldn't feel like I'm smuggling something on board when I bring the 120 home, right?

Thanks

Ya, I know. I'll have to wrap it up and put it in the suit case. It's really a cramp now that the weight limit is 50 lbs. on each piece of luggage. If one suite case is over weight, there goes any savings on my haul. I don't know about checking the 6-pack box you get at the store. Anything checked is subject to being opened, so even if the contents are not "lost" the sealing tape will be cut and the box could open accidentally in flight. Oh, well.

I heard on the Today show this morning by a travel expert that charges for overweight bags are being waived right now due to the lastest incident. That will not be the case down the road.
