OK, I've got to know.....how do I find out when the ships are in Cruz Bay so we can avoid the crowds??? Which beaches do you stay away from on those days?

Hi New England.

At the top of this page there is a link called "Cruise Ship Guide & Schedule" that notes the ships that will be anchoring off STJ and those that will be anchoring off and berthed on STT during the current month. During high season, when there are numerous ships in port, Magens and Coki on STT and the northside beaches on STJ, especially Trunk, can be busy. Cruisers tend to return to their ships early so afternoons are usually fine everywhere.

If you're on STJ on a day when the "tourists" come to town...stay at your house/hotel. Then, when you see the procession of tired-looking people head to the ferry, head to the now-empty beaches.

I should only mock the day trips a little bit. We got our first taste of STJ on a cruise-related day trip and are now hooked for life.
