This will be my first trip over to STT on May 30 - Just a few short weeks away - Yay!
I have a question. Does anyone know if most places accept American Express? I am an avid Amex user as I like to get the points etc. and wasn't sure if I should make alternate arrangements and bring cash instead.
Please let me know, your knowledge is greatly appreciated!
Most hotels and large restaurants will,but of course it's always good to check first. However, many places only take cash (like many bars and smaller restaurants). Another thing, this is largely a cash-based economy down here, so most places will offer you a cash discount. Just ask - no one will be offended!! And it will save you lots of $$ in the long run. Have fun!
AX is accepted at many places but more accept Visa and Mastercard. Bars and restaurants don't offer cash discounts! Enjoy your visit!
Make sure to call your credit card company and let them know where you will be traveling to.
I understand your wanting to get points and stuff, but, as stated above, this is more of a 'cash' destination...for example, the merchant has to pay X% of the purchase price to the credit card company...which cuts into their profit margin...bring cash or traveler's checks, you will save yourself time and hassle, and help our economy in the process!
