We rented from Courtesy while we were down there in October. They were great until we dropped our vehicle back off when we were ready to leave. They said there was a spot on the front bumper that was not there when we picked it up. I believe it was there when we rented it, but then again there was so many dings, bumps, rust spots and scratches all over the vehicle who could tell. When we did our first inspection I kept pointing them all out and he said it was fine and didn't write it down. I did not buy their rental insurance since it was covered on my own insurance policy. When the guy started complaining about it when we dropped off the vehicle , I whipped out my camera and took pictures of it and by the time my plane landed at home, they had called and said it was fine. My insurance company said they would fight them on it if it came to it, but it never did. Whatever it was it would have buffed out very easily. You can't even see it on my pictures. Just keep that in mind. I wonder if they do that to everyone that does not buy their extra insurance. I loved their location since it was so convenient, but it left a bad taste in my mouth how the trip ended with them. I may or may not rent from them again.

I had the same problem with Discount car rental on St Thomas. They are out to rip people off. Very nice when you pic up the car. In my case after dark and then tell you there is a problem. Someone should notify the public about how often this happens!

Hi Nidenud,

I used Courtesy a couple of years ago. We had a different experience than lisab. We had a Liberty that was fairly new, so didn't have many dings on it. They walked me around the car beforehand and noted each one. There were no new dings when we turned it in so no problems.

I thought they were very professional compared to another company we've used. (O'Connor's) That time, I think we must have had a similar vehicle as lisab had. It was a Jeep Wrangler. Rust everywhere. Not just dings, but good sized dents too. The zippers for the plastic windows on one side and in the back were broken so water got in the car everytime it rained. Even if I put a dent in it , (which I didn't), I don't think you could tell (can't see the forest for the trees, right?). They never did a pre or a post inspection of the vehicle anyway. I was pretty ticked at the condition of the vehicle to begin with, but there were no others to be had that week, so we didn't have a choice. I haven't used them since.

Good luck and have fun!

WW

I think I may have encountered an issue with where we decided to rent this year. Cool Breeze Jeep Rentals quotes $480.00 for a weeks rental on their website, but when they emailed me the confirmation, their figure was about $96.00 more . Any suggestions?PLEASE!!!...just when you think something's easy...

We rented a vehicle from Courtesy last May for 5 days, and frankly, would NOT do so again. First, the "final" price was higher than the original quote (we were supposed to get a discount through our villa rep), and the condition of the vehicle was absolutely not acceptable from a safety standpoint. We are returning in May, and will be renting from Penn's.
